On 7/13/23 I received an email from the HR Dept. for Akzo Nobel Coatings, Inc. requesting an interview. I had applied for several positions with careerbuilders.com. I did the interview on 7/13 and received an employment offer letter. On 7/14 I received an email to do task 1 which was to answer some questions. On 7/17 I received an email to do task 2 which was to answer some questions. On 7/17 I received a check in the amount of $4980 via UPS for equipment. I deposited the check into my checking account on 7/17. I told the pretender Erdmann Patrick the check will not be available until 7/26. Erdmann chatted with me through zoom chat. I never saw his face or talk to him on the phone. Erdmann said he was located in Hilo, Hawaii USA. Erdmann told me that it would take too longer for the check to be available. Therefore, their vendor requested that I go purchase an Apple gift card for $1000. I went to purchase the Apple gift card. I took a picture of the gift card to show proof of purchase. On 7/18 I was told the company's vendor needed an additional $500 in order to ship out the equipment by that afternoon. I cash app an additional $500 so I can get the equipment in my home as soon as possible. The money went to $debcarter1234. Meanwhile, I noticed the check in the amount of $4980 was stopped paid on 7/19. I also found out the money on the gift card had been taken off of the card. I confront Erdmann about all of my findings and he emailed me another check in the amount of $8700. The check was to cover the original check of $4980, bonus money, and two weeks payment, and reimbursement of my $1500. On 7/19 the bank froze up all of my money that I had in the bank and they closed out my checking account. I somehow was able to get the bank to reopen the account and give me my money that I had in the bank before I deposited the two fraudulent checks unaware. I stopped talking to Erdmann on 7/19. However, I received a phone call from someone name Ally from Michigan claiming that her boyfriend lived next door to Akzo Nobel Coatings, Inc. Ally said she had been getting several calls from people trying to reach someone about employment with Akzo Nobel Coatings, Inc. Ally called me from (248) 636-0400. Ally said she was going to investigate everything and she would give me a call back, but I didn't get a call back from her.
