Type of a scam Utility
January 27 – mid-afternoon a fellow came to our door. My wife was home at the time, I was at work.
He was wearing a jacket with ENERGY STAR on it. He led my wife believe that he was with the Government doing energy audits in our neighborhood* *** She believed that he was with the Government, let him in the house for his inspection and audit. He told her that we are eligible for government programs and rebates and as such he could get us some advantage with the Government. My wife did not sign anything as she told him that her husband makes money decisions and he needs to come back to speak to me. He has not yet returned. I was suspicious of this event when informed of it. I checked the government website for Natural Resources Canada the Government Agency that manages the ENERGY STAR program. They do not go door to door and do unsolicited energy audits. I do not like how a stranger has gained access to my house by deceiving my wife that he is with the Government and their ENERGY STAR program. He said that he would be working in our neighborhood for the next few days.
Yesterday i sent in a report of a scam after further discussion with my wife I would like to add A correction: The guy that came to our door had ALBERTA ENERGY on his jacket not ENERGY STAR, his business ID said ENERGY STAR. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
