I applied for a remote job with Eckman Construction on Linkedin. The next day after I applied, Cooper from Eckman texted me and said that he saw my application and thought I would be a good fit and to reach out to their HR person Alex. He provided the email for Alex. I emailed Alex. Alex responded with some information about the position and asked some interview questions. I responded. I looked at his email and it had a similar @ as their website. The signature line also had the website linked as well as other common links. Alex then offered the position to me. The job posting was then closed on Linkedin. Alex told me that a check would be mailed to me and to use it to purchase a very specific laptop. He mailed me the check and I deposited it like requested. The check seemed to clear the bank. I looked for this laptop, but was not able to find the exact one. I found something close and sent Alex a picture of he. He said that he was not good with computers and referred me to their IT person. The IT persons said that they had what was needed and in stock and if I sent them the money she could get it. She said she would get all of the software and privacy items downloaded and mail it to me for a Monday delivery. Monday came and I did not get the laptop. I emailed her multiple times asking for a tracking number. I then emailed Alex and he did not answer. I called the company directly the next day. The company told me that they did not have anyone starting and did not offer remote positions. They also told me that their Linkedin account was hacked and do not have anyone on their payroll with the name Alex.

A person contacted me pertaining to a job I recently applied for on Linkedin. The job was with Eckman Construction. This person had a fraudulent Eckman Company email, company letterhead and HR documents. This person offered me employment after and extensive interview via email. I as to purchase a specific MacBook and specific software for my orientation. I was told that the company would send me a check to provide the funds to get the specific computer. I as to wait for the check and then could purchase the orientation materials online or through local vendors. The specific MacBook required had been discontinued, but the scammer already knew that. I was online with Apple several times trying to price a computer that would meet the specifications. I recieved a check for $4,370 via FedEx. It was from Way Fong LLC and not Eckman Construction. The scammer said it was the parent company. I deposited the check, but then had my bank reverse the deposit because I knew something was going on. The scammer got me connected with a private IT consultant who said they worked with setting up orientation materials and could help me. I was asked to Zelle a $2,000 deposit and then total cost $4,000. I refused.
