Type of a scam Employment
The job offer was for a position as a Parcel Specialist. They described it as a work at home job, and said that packages would be sent to my home. I would inspect them, making sure the product inside is in good condition, then send it out. It was never money or drugs or anything, but it was always lucrative and expensive items. Things that I remember off of the top of my head are a gold ring, a computer, and a fancy ink bottle. I was desperate for a good job, so I didn't see anything suspicious about this and accepted.
They said I would be paid at a base salary of $2100, with a bonus of $70 per package I send out. They said they would pay me after my first month with the company, with me then getting paid every two weeks afterwards. However, now that first month has come and gone and I can't log in to the company website anymore. I've tried reaching out to my supervisors for help and gotten no response. And I still haven't been paid.
Once I realized I'd been scammed, I started doing some research online. Apparently I wasn't the only one they contacted for a "Parcel Specialist" job offer a month ago. They seem to be targeting people like me who were looking for jobs on Indeed. People more familiar with these scams have described it as a "package mule scam", where someone is given a job offer to inspect packages before shipping them out, and tracing the package usually leads to the scam victim rather than whoever first sent it out.
Alfil Logistics USA was apparently filed as a company back in February, and someone said that they looked up the listed address of their headquarters and it's just a vacant building for rent. The company is listed as being based in Connecticut. Their supposed address is 22 Prindle Hill Rd F Orange, CT 06477
I'm no business major, so I don't know what this means but they have a different address listed as their "Registered Agent". It's 2389 Main St Ste 100 Glastonbury, CT 06033.
Of course, they asked me for some of my information. I had to sign up for their company website, https://alfil-dashboard.com/. While creating an account, they asked for my full name, gender, date of birth, email, address, phone number, and even the name and phone number of an emergency contact. After I signed up, they also asked for my banking details and had me electronically fill out a W-4 form and send it to their HR department.
That's about all I have to say. I doubt this will be of much help, since they're probably fake names, but other people at Alfil Logistics USA LLC I talked to were Niko Wilburn, Bryan Justice, Lea Merton, and Trenton Tate.
one thing that was very annoying was that anytime you got a new package they would call you non-stop about it, e-mail you, message you, i had to tell them to stop because i had a second job and they would just annoyingly call everyday.
i do remember that around the 9th of august they contacted me and said that some rival hacked into their website and they had to shut the website down and so they had to give everyone a new login info, currently that login info doesn’t work and my old one doesn’t either, it sucks because it was such an easy job and the base salary they were going to pay for the first month was 2,100$ and with all the bonuses i accumulated it was gonna be 2,780$ in total, when the website crashed and i asked where all my bonuses went because they weren’t there anymore, they had told me that the accountant recorded all that information and i had nothing to worry about and i was going to get paid all of it, and then they went radio silence.
also at the very beginning i asked for proof that it was a real company and they sent me a bunch of papers that could’ve easily been photoshopped and the company was made just this year in february.
don’t fall for this job scam.
