My wife applied for a Data Entry position on LinkedIn for Kelag Energie -- an energy provider in Austria. They made first contact through text message scheduling an online interview with Alfred Furst. Alfred said that Kelag Energie were opening an office in Massachusetts and were hiring for that office. A couple of hours following completion of the online interview (which was over Signal messaging, not phone), Alfred Furst informed my wife that she had been hired. He sent new hire documentations such as tax forms and requested her personally identifiable information to complete the hiring contract. A couple of days later, Alfred reached out again informing my wife that Kelag would purchase the necessary equipment for the position and put her in touch with Amel Skenderi, head of purchasing.

Amel explained to my wife that the equipment would be purchased through a vendor which they have an agreement with. The procedure for purchasing the equipment, however, was incredibly fishy. Amel sent a scanned check to my wife's email for the amount of roughly U$2800, which was to be deposited into our bank account. Following the deposit, Amel instructed us to convert the amount deposited into BitCoin through CashApp, then have the purchased BitCoin sent to a key which Amel provided. After making the first round of transfers, Amel informed my wife that due to limitations on their end, the total amount for purchasing the equipment had to be split and therefore he would be sending another check to repeat the process. It was at this point that my wife decided to terminate any further contact with Amel and Alfred.
