I write today requesting assistance with a phishing SCAM I just fell prey to. The Scammers are posing as reps of the MERCK human resources department with cleverly composed stationary and hiring documents, real enough to look legit. It looks as though they have setup a fake domain (www.merckcareer.org) to work thru. Though there are some grammatical errors. Using multiple identities (Wong 5 @ www.guru.com, [email protected], [email protected], Evan Kane @ AIM)and website to communicate and interview. It culminates with a fake firm sending a fake check which I did not even try to cash.
Any actions you can take to prevent or at least remove the ease with which these guys are selecting prey, would be greatly appreciated by me. I would have loved to be able to do data entry at my home office for Merck & Co., how silly that was of me to assume as real. Although I did do a quick check before applying it was obviously not sufficient as I look back at all the information I compiled yesterday.
I realize that the fault lies with me for falling for this scam, but I also know that this manipulation of systems to freelance from or large company reputations being utilized by these individuals is simply wrong. I am hoping that you have the means to accomplish either blocking their abilities to scam others, or expose them for what they are.
I am including a brief one-page outline showing events. Attached is a -15-page document compiling all info from chats, emails (in case you’d like to be able to pinpoint anything in an investigation of their activities).

ABOUT THE JOB:
The job was made available due to the upgrading of our database, our aim is to target employees who will
work from home or anywhere of your choice any time that does suit you as this is strictly an online work
from home job. The company's working hours is flexible. You can choose to work during morning,
afternoon and even during evening. The regular pay-rate is $28/hr and you will be paid $24/hr while

The above equipment will be installed with your working software by our certified local vendors who
will be coming over to set it up for you. You will then be forwarded to your supervisor to start training.
You will need software for training and to work. The company has made provision for you to get your
software pack from the vendor.
Once you pass your interview you will be offered the position and your home office location will be
registered with the head dept. Next you enter into pre-training / startup period during which you shall
complete various task(s) assigned by your interview manager. To compensate you for your time and
Effort on these tasks you will be rewarded with a bonus which comes included on your startup funds
from the finance department. A thorough background check will be done before your hiring manager will
help you in applying for your startup funds from the finance department. Once the application is

NOTE: The company formerly used to pay for these materials directly to the software retailer but
looking at past records shipment took longer than expected due to the paper works to be signed and
others, so the board of directors came together and changed this procedure, so employees purchase
directly from the retailer to enable the materials to be shipped directly to their home addresses. The
company takes full responsibility of funding for your equipment. Therefore the company finance
department will be responsible for the finance to get these materials from the local vendor/ retailer. This
will also prove your commitment and trust worth to the company. Your W-2 form and training contract
among other documents to be signed will be coming along with your working materials. It will take at
least 2-3 days to complete start up, have your home office set-up and to have you provided with the
complete equipment.
