I applied for dozens of jobs on Careerbuilder.com. I was contacted shortly after on August 22 via text message at my phone number from someone named Keilan Bert who stated he had reviewed my resume and the Hiring Manager Carlos Stewart would conduct an interview with me via Telegram Messanger @Carlos_Alia_TherapeuticsHR for a remote data entry position with Alia Therapeutics. I was told to message him to set up an interview. During the two hour interview on August 23, I was briefed in depth about Alia Therapeutics and their genetic research, thesis and biotech goals. I was given a detailed description of my data entry job responsibilities and code of conduct in the workplace. I was asked about employment history, skills and career goals. I was told about benefits packages, my hourly rate of pay and working hours. They provided a link to Aliatherapeutics.com. It was identical to a traditional interview process and Carlos appeared well-spoken, professional and highly educated and never asked me for banking information. I was offered the job and told someone from the head office would email me paperwork. The next morning I recieved an email from [email protected] with a job offer letter, code of conduct and I-9 form, signed by the CEO Letizia Goretti. I emailed back the completed forms and a copy of my drivers license. On August 26, I was told the accounting department would issue me a check from one of their 107 affliates in the United States to cover the expenses of the necessary computer equipment for data entry and given a tracking number. He instructed me to track it via USPS: 9405601660979372183811 and it came from a disturbution center in Moreno Valley California. On August 29 I recieved the check in the amount of $4951 from CJE Construction Company. I scanned it into my CapitalOne banking app and the next day recieved a confirmation email saying it had been accepted and the funds would be avaliable on Sept 5. I was then instructed to purchase a 13-inch MacBook Air, 13 inch IPad Pro with Pencil and Keyboard Accessories. Carlos said data entry software had to be installed and he gave me an intensive list of dozens of software programs that were to be handled by Bright Tech. I was instructed to Fedex the equipment first overnight to the address he gave me for Bright Tech 9118 Synott rd Suite F Houston TX 77083. On August 31, I recieved an email from Fedex saying that the 3 packages had been delivered and signed for by I.Ibrahim. Carlos confirmed the details with me and explained because it was the holiday weekend, the software would be put on afterward and mailed back to me on Sept 3. On August 31, I recieved a phone call from Carlos saying that the check would have to be canceled but a business account would be set up in my name so I could also purchase a desktop computer. I became suspicious right then and went to Alia Therapeutics website where I saw a posting about fake headhunters scamming people using Alia Therapeutics credentials. I never recieved anything back from 'Bright Tech' but learned the address belonged to MBeeLink Global Logistics LLC which ships cargo to Nigeria (via their website).
