Our business received an unsolicited phone call from All Phase Business Supplies claiming that they were the ones who sent us our paper rolls for our credit card machines. I know that we get our paper rolls directly from Merchant One, but I thought that perhaps this company handled those orders for Merchant One. The sales representative, who said her name was Margaret Vai, told me that there had been complaints about the quality of this batch of paper rolls, and so they would be sending us a new shipment of the replacement rolls. I had no ordered any paper rolls recently, and we still have plenty in stock, so this was a potential scam warning to me. She said that our old rolls cost $9.95 per roll, and the new ones would be $12.10 per roll (both of these prices are WAY too high for a roll of credit card machine paper). She said that to apologize for the trouble with the old rolls, they would reserve 18 rolls for us at the "old" $9.95 rate. By the end of the conversation, I was unsure whether they were actually sending the new rolls now, or if they were just holding them until the next time I placed an order. She did not ask me to confirm an order, and did not ask for any billing or shipping information, which I would have expected from a scam, so I just ended the phone call and decided to wait and see what happened. The next morning I received a voicemail from another rep at the All Phase Business Supplies company, George, who was calling to follow up on my earlier conversation with Margaret. George said that they needed to get in touch with me again to confirm the details of my order, and to call them back at 1-800-253-3233. Now this smelled like a clever 2-part scam that was on the border of seeming legitimate, so I searched for the phone number online and discovered that this is indeed a scam that many business have fallen prey to. I wanted to share my experience, to help others who receive the same phone call. I know that I get my paper directly from Merchant One, and I know that the prices All Phase quotes are WAY too high. Do not do business with them.
