Total money lost $4,665.60
Type of a scam Travel/Vacations
Last fall, November 16, (2015) our company registered through their fake website, took my credit card information, and then asked to reserve rooms via check payment. This spring, April 4th (2016), 2.5 weeks before the expo, they canceled our reservation for 8 rooms at the Cleveland Airport Marriot and they kept our $4,665.60, and said that the money is now in a "travel bank".
In their email they offered no explanation on how the reservation was canceled, but informed me that I physically called the hotel directly and canceled our reservation. Before they told me the reservation was canceled, I called the hotel directly because their activity was extremely suspicious. The hotel confirmed that there was never any reservation under offpeakrooms.com, Allied Acquisition Services, LLC, my company, my name, any member of my party, or any name under the expo we were attending.
According to their reservation agreement and reservation amendment policy, only offpeakrooms.com could contact the hotel to make changes or cancel reservations, meaning that customers cannot make changes on their own with the hotel, so there is absolutely no possible way that I could've canceled the reservation.
According to "Sam Bivans" on the phone, reservation changes or cancellations could only be made via their [email protected] email address. Again, they have not presented any evidence that I canceled the reservations via the [email protected] (no email correspondence that shows me canceling, no signed agreement or invoice, etc), which they should have on file. I emailed [email protected] and told them of the situation, asked for an explanation, and informed them that I am extremely disappointed with their service. Neither Stuart, Sam, Offpeakrooms, or Allied Acquisition Services, LLC did not respond.
Stuart Bivans and offpeakrooms.com only responded by email when our company lawyer and I told him via email and physical letter that we notified the NYPD and made an official police report (5/13) due to their suspicious activity. The company lawyer and I asked for a 100% refund on the $4665.60, they only responded that we inform them of our next travel plans to use travel credit from the travel bank. Stuart Bivans or offpeakrooms.com has not show any evidence that we canceled the reservation or offered any explanation but insists that we make more reservations through his company. The expo company also called offpeakrooms.com to confirm the situation, and they said that their staff became increasingly angry, confrontational, and hung up the phone half-way through the conversation. Stuart Bivans refuses to speak with our lawyer or myself on the phone. We've tried calling on all three of their numbers- 212-441-3140, +1-885-987-440, +44 2070846317.
The NYPD are investigating the company under the charge of Grand Larceny. BBB.org, please investigate this company. Hotel scams are too common and many companies are being hurt by people like Stuart Bivans, offpeakrooms.com, and Allied Acquisition Services, LLC. The owners of the expo that we attended informed us that hotel reservation scams are ruining their customers' experience and costing companies an immense amount of money. 7 of our guests were from Japan and were disappointed that this happens in the U.S. and are now afraid of U.S. business.
Attached, please find a document of guest names that includes no one from my company, but offpeakrooms insists that it was my reservation. A fake reservation list.
