I called ALLSTATE GARAGE DOOR to have our garage door opener inspected. The customer service representative was friendly and quick to schedule a technician for the next day. The technician that came over inspected my garage door opener and said that I needed to replace it. I already knew I would need to replace the opener, but the cost he was quoting was top dollar and incredibly high. I was charged $1,650 for the garage door opener. I researched the exact same model after the fact and came to find out the exact opener is only $700. Then after he installed my garage door opener he said I needed new cables and extension springs. I probably did new cables and extension springs because they were very old and were never replaced. But the total price for the garage door opener, cables, and extension springs came out to over $3,500. I did not have any idea how much everything costs until I looked into the price of the parts after I was charged. I received a quote from a reputable garage door repair company that the amount for those exact parts, including installation would be around $1,300. This is highway robbery and I am reporting this company so hopefully someone researches their name, sees my report, and decides to call another place so they don't get taken advantage of.
