Total money lost$2,000 Type of a scamHome Improvement
A person came into the yard and only identified himself as John, said he was working up the road and had some left over materials and asked if he could fix the driveway at the home. He quoted $2.00 a foot and would not give a written quote or take measurements for what the job would cost.
He did not ask for money and a crew returned the next day and with a spray can put down a light coat of tar and then dumped loose gravel over already laid down asphalt. They left a huge mess and did not even packed down the the loose gravel saying that your vehicles would do it.
They came in vehicles with out business names and did not have the proper equipment or tools to do the job.
The next day John called and said he would come for the money owed, he did not say how much but he would come to collect it.
When told the job was not to satisfactory , he said he would attend and look at it.
The date and time he was suppose to come , came and went, I called the cell phone he provided. When I asked for his business license and his GST number he said his foreman was coming out with it , I asked for him to give it over the phone and he refuse.
He refused to give his business address for me to attend to speak to him in person.
He started the usual, I am going to tell your neighbors that you refuse to pay,but did say I can't be bothered to collect money from you and the job is now a gift . He said he would send no one to fix it, swear a lot but no efforts to rectify the situation.
This is a typical scam I have read about now on the net, they have heavy Irish and English accents.
The man who said he was the owner only would Id himself as John Guinness.
There is no Aloha company in Edmonton, he also went on to say he doesn't do written estimates , he doesn't need too, he doesn't have a website and other than the cell phone number I have nothing else to go on.
I am not out any money for the terrible job but will most likely have a $2000.00 clean up for this job.
