15 years ago, Rob replaced the boiler in my old Saeco espresso machine quickly and professionally. So I naturally thought of him when my $2000 Gran barista required attention. That’s when I discovered that he’s morphed into a Scam Meister. He promised 24 hour turnaround and I sent him my $300. Weeks later he said he was still waiting for a part. Many more weeks later he sent me a UPS shipping number. When the UPS site indicated it never been shipped, he swore that he had shipped it and UPS lost it-so more time and more excuses. He said it was insured, but wouldn’t send me money. Rather he promised to send me a rebuilt unit equal to mine. Eventually, after even more time, he shipped me a broken-up, used-up Gran Barista that would not even brew a cup of coffee, but it did flood my countertop with water.

Appeals to the Gardena Sheriff’s department, the Los Angeles County fraud squad, and the California Attorney General got me nowhere.

Of course, now when I check the Better Business Bureau and several other review sites, I find that this is the new norm for Mr. Rodriguez.

It looks like his new business model is much more profitable than his old one.
