Type of a scam Employment
I verified the employer online (Alteryx) www.Alteryx.com and looked up the hiring manager (Bethany Hunt) online. Everything looked legitimate and they were not pushy at first. After I was “hired” they scheduled a follow up for the next day and was expected to be on time.
The next day they had me print a check payable to myself to purchase materials such as Apple MacBook Pro. This is when I became skeptical… I went along with it for a bit, but was asked to cash the check and go to a Coinstar to apparently serve as a conduit to purchase the materials. At this point I let them know I was no longer interested and they became very pushy about being the person they were claiming to be who worked for the company.
That’s about it. Other names used, was a recruitment person by the name of Melanie Yarbrough and email from an Accounting Manager Kim Henderson.
I’m surprised at how professional everything seemed up until the end. Crazy times. Be safe out there.
