Responded to an advertisement on Facebook for a 40' container. A company website was provided and appeared to be in order with lots of information. They provided wire information complete with various docusign material and other to make it look official. I wired the funds to the account they provided and they had asked for confirmation that the wire was sent which I obtained from the credit union and sent them. They responded with a delivery date and all appeared to be well.

On the morning of 10-11-2023 I received an email advising me that I needed a permit to receive the container on my property and that they had confirmed one was needed. They named the Texas Building Division as the government agency that the permit would be acquired from. They stated a fee of $2150 was necessary to cover the cost involved in acquiring the permit.

I responded that there were no permits needed and that I was in rural Texas where containers were very common. I checked for the agency they named and it didn't come up in any searches. I submitted the reply and haven't heard anything further.

The listing on Facebook is gone as is our messages that have been deleted. I did save the pics and other tidbits from their site, etc. Their 'website' is up and nothing has changed. I found no negative feedback on the company. I checked their website through an online fraud site and other than it being approximately 6 months old there wasn't any negative info. They passed all the requirements to be a legitimate site according to them. https://www.islegitsite.com/check/altonbox.com/

We found shipping container on facebook marketplace went to the website request information, so e then called us and emailed us invoice for the container. We paid 2500 to confirm and ship container and then another 1500 the day it was being delivered. The container never showed up and they continue to not answer calls or return callss. We have gotten them a few times and they say they are sending refund but it ia never done. We have lost 3550 in payment and all or assets that where supposed to be put into the container.
