BEWARE SCAMMERS--ALUMNI RESOLUTION ADVOCATES (and any other affiliate names used)
Alumni Resolution Advocates contacted me out of the blue and seemed to have some information on my student loan program. "Alexandra Winters" and "Bernice" (could be pseudonyms) asked for my date of birth, cell number, mailing address, email ID, credit card details, etc. They sent me an online contract (to be initialed on all the pages) for upfront fixed payments of $120 in four installments for a total of $480 as "non-reimbursable processing fees". A "promise" was given that thereafter each month's student loan repayment to the Federal Government would be "$0.00" I became suspicious regarding the upfront payments and all the personal information taken, and made enquiries, only to find that this was one of many Student Loan scams (mostly out of California and Florida), to cheat vulnerable student loan borrowers, with the following “Red Flag” characteristics:
• Claiming their offer is limited and pressuring you to commit
• Using legalistic documentation and wording to sound legitimate
• They may use several names for the same scamming outfit
• Requiring “non-refundable” upfront or monthly fees for “processing”
• Promising total loan forgiveness after paying “non-refundable” fees upfront
• Most of these scams are located in California, Florida, or Nevada
• Use cloned phone numbers (likely VOIP) that look legitimate and local
• They siphon off your payments to untraceable foreign offshore accounts
• They demand FSA ID, DOB, Email, Phone, SSN, address, and bank card details
Watch out for this “Alumni Resolution Advocates” scammer and others like them—report to FTC, BBB, State Attorney General, etc. Also, warn others through all available review forums and sites.
