Type of a scam Online Purchase
1) a price too good to be true. $600 for a puppy. Gave multiple reasons why the price was so low. Also see the scam for Akita puppies.
2) Shipping charges really low too. Should have researched it better. Quoted $250 to ship to Canada.
3) Website had multiple puppies with varying ages. A littler would have the same age.
4) Constantly pushing for Western Union payments which I finally did. Originally payed with half with PayPal. When there was difficulty paying the remainder, the scammer returned the initial payment. I took this as a good sign. Well played!
5) Disappeared for a while with no contact. Came back with excuses that he had been ill and that he was going do ship the puppy right away.
6) Received calls (from a cell phone) and finally emails from a company called Blue Sky Delivery-relocation company. Googled them but couldn't find anything. Checked the website and it looks legit but when I called the office number, it had been disconnected. The number that I received the call from was a cell phone.
7) The email received at 3:24pm PST, stated that the puppy had been dropped off and would be delivered the next evening at 7:12pm at the airport. That would be an awful long time for a puppy to sit in a sealed, ,airconditioned shipping crate.
8) The email had several typos in it and they were asking for a "collateral deposit" of $920 for a "sealed, airconditioned shipping crate" for the puppy which would be returned upon delivery of the puppy in CASH. The man from the transport company called three times.
9) The man running the scam called himself Kenneth White (which could be legit or he has fake ID to collect the Western Union payments). I checked the phone number and it's apparently a cell phone as well.
10) I checked the IP addresses of the emails and they are different. Doing a google search, they come up as "suspicious".
11) I suspect that the person calling from the "transport company" was the man identified as Kenneth White. Don't know for sure.
