I was contacted by a man with a Hispanic or Indian accent claiming to be Amazon Account Verification. He said a package was sent to New York from my account and he knew it was fraud because my phone area code was not a New York number. I said I would log into my account to investigate and call customer back if I found anything suspicious. At this point, he got belligerent and insisted that if I hung up I would have to pay for the package. He got so incensed that I gave him my name, but when he asked how to spell it I knew he didn't have any of my account information at all. I again said that I would call customer service back later, but he insisted that I call him back instead or I would pay for the package. I said I would pay and hung up. Later, I verified that no packages from my account were sent to New York.
