Received letter in the mail titled "Michigan Residential Eligibility Notice" using the CARES ACT as the premise to offer me a 2% interest rate. I called to inquire and from there everything took place via email. Documents contained false government website, email to the contact person named "Kristin Carter", and false govt. links to Cares Act, HAMP Program and Treasury. Confusing data in all of the documents referring to the process to reduce my interest rate as modification, adjustment, refinance, deferment, forbearance, enrollment, and more. There were no loan application documents, no appraisal. They emailed a Realtor.com page trying to pass off as appraised value of my home. I was asked for $825 up front for a processing fee for a service I never received. Once I discussed this with family, it soon became clear I was scammed and now because I had already provided all of my financial information and they had my check, they were able to see my account and routing number, therefore my identity was stolen. I've had to report this and go to great lengths to protect my identity and credit, there is no telling how much damage has yet to appear on my credit at this point. They requested I make check payable to "Entitlement Processing Services". I was contacted recently from a Joe Cruz, same supposed company, asking for more money. I did not send and have reported this everywhere necessary. The documents received via email were not loan documents, there were no documents reflecting the new proposed interest rate, the content on each page was grammatically incorrect, misspellings, multiple fonts were used, inconcise language was used for what would be considered loan documents. There were conflicting statements such as "temporary relief" and "permanent adjustment" and a warning that "consulting with my bank personally will not end in a positive outcome". This was to discourage me from contacting my mortgage company to confirm this process. This was a terrible experience that will take quite some time to even determine the extent of damage to my credit, let alone repair. They have all of my personal and financial information, they can use that to do just about anything, anywhere including opening loans and new debt in my name. The "company" is presenting itself as part of the CARES ACT homeowner affordability who state that the Cares Act Funds are available to assist eligible homeowners. They are out of Lakewood California operating from a UPS PO Box. They are not a legitimate company and have endorsed the check I sent them with "DEPOSIT ONLY", hence, a real person in Lakewood CA is accessing the PO Box to retrieve the checks and deposit them into a bank somewhere!

My banking has been addressed so they can not access that any further. Please be aware, mail fraud, as I was recently advised, is at an all time high. After a corporate search, there are no such entities in the USA. The web domain and links were all false. The names of the contact persons: Kristin Carter and Joe Cruz are not valid. Do not respond or reply to Anything mailed to you, call your mortgage company to inquire about your mortgage options or to ask about what you received in the mail. Question everything you are mailed, screen calls, spam and block any texts, calls and emails from unrecognized persons, and do not answer Any questions over the phone, text, email or mail for Anyone! The Cares Act will Not contact you to offer modification to your mortgage. Only your mortgage company can assist with this, and you must solicit it. These scams are targeting seniors and vulnerable persons. Beware.

If you are unsure of a call, mail or email, stop and ask a trusted person for advice Before sending a reply or money. Do not send money for any services not rendered or for any other reason unless you are in a professional transaction in person or with the consult of a lawyer or trusted professional.
