I got mail claiming to be the caresact initiative to help me with my mortgage. When I called they told me I qualified for government assistance to lower my mortgage. After which I was told the new rate and told if I paid two months upfront, they would in turn pay the next two months of my mortgage. After I paid them they sent my a 90 page document that I then had to send to my mortgage lender (they did no interaction with my mortgage lender) and it was declined. When I asked for a refund they kept telling me that I was approved and that they weren't going to pay the two most they promised to pay because the mortgage company is supposed to give you two months consideration or something. Either way I told the manager, I specifically asked because conversation is recording, Are you going to pay two months mortgage. I could have gone thru my mortgage lender and applied for modification, I was promised as part of the government assistance I was being helped. No services were given, yet when I asked for a refund they told me the contract said this...... I paid 1800$ for them to send me a packet, that I then had to fax and got no reduction in mortgage at all.
