Letter received via USPS priority mail with a cashier's check for $2,390.73; the letter stated that this was a provisional assignment and had an American Express logo. Advised to purchase four gift cards for $500.00 each. Shop for personal items spending $45.00 along with purchasing a cashier's check for $30.00 made out to the American Red Cross. The commission to be deducted for the assignment was $265.00. The remaining balance $22.93 was to be retained until the next assignment was received. The letter noted that the gift cards would be mailed to the American Express company headquarters for further investigation. Further noted that you were free to purchase gift cards for $200.00 if the $500.00 were not available. Advised to shop at one of the following stores: CVS, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Rite-Aid, Dollar General, 7-Eleven or Family Dollar. Direct quote: "There have been accusations about disrespectful staff members, unprofessional behavior and lack of communication. The business is competitive and they are losing customers." Assignment is to study the shopping process, be observant to customer assistance, store appearance/cleanliness, employee demeanor, product selection, store layout, ease of shopping and overall store atmosphere.
