On May 14, 2021 I responded to a Craigslist rental housing ad through their email relay. I received an email response (attached below) which included a form to fill out that included personal information such as date of birth and photocopy of drivers license. Believing it to be legitimate, I sent them the information and on May 15 received a phone call from a gentleman with a very thick foreign accent saying my family have been chosen as the new tenants. He went on to say that the interior of the house is not available to be shown, though an address was provided and we were told we can view it from outside through the windows. He said upon mailing in a check for damage deposit and first month's rent, I would receive the keys by courier.

Suspecting it may be a scam, I terminated the phone call. The next day on Craigslist, someone posted an alert saying the ad is a scam, saying the details of the house were copied and pasted from a real estate site.

I now believe I may have given my personal information to a scammer.

We wanted to sell the property since we will be staying longer than we though & later my wife advised me not to sell the property anymore. I reasoned with her and accepted her advice so we contacted the agent back and requested for our keys and documents and put it for rent since we will back in the next 4 to 5 years.

We would have given the same agent this job also but the truth of the matter is that the agent was asking too much of an agent fee and also made the rent high. We were not getting the responses we needed so i decided to terminated our contract with them and put it up for rent ourselves. If you notice, you will discover that the price we are offering is far below standard price and this is enough for you to know that we are not after the rental fee but the absolute care for the property. The house is available for as long as you want,which include utilities such as Air Conditioner Dishwasher Walk-in Closet Refrigerator Vaulted Ceilings Washer/Dryer Cable etc. Monthly rent :$2,500
