American United Giveaways Reports & Reviews (1)

My >80yr old family member in northern CA responded to the United Giveaways sweepstake mail in ($5 donation I think). She was contact as the winner for $1.8 million - names and details were provided and a fake Federal Registration ID (AUG12111-GOV-CA) and she was asked to send 1% of the amount as "corporate fees" to set up a claim. She sent $9750 as a personal check - then they followed up pressuring her for 10x this amount with some time sensitive issues regarding court proceeding, insurance, other fees that were only described on a phone call. Once these were paid, a person was going to come to her house with the winning check. She was pressured to liquidate IRA accounts to provide these fees, as she would 'lose' the winnings.

The check was made to the Bank of America - I don't have the complete details but some Holding fund perhaps called Insurance Capitol Bonds Securities.

My elderly relative is secretive and embarassed (and still hoping it is true) so these are all the details I have. She has been counselled to provide no more funds as if she is truly a winner, she can pay any taxes after transfer and with a detailed settlement document provided.
