They emailed me a proposal; I held off for 11 days to compare other options.
Then I emailed them back on April 29th in the same email threads as the proposal and asked if it was still valid. Their rep Amber contacted me by phone within half hour and cemented details, took my credit card and charged me $587.55. I forgot about it for a few months.
About a month or so before the wedding, I received a phone call trying to solicit my business to reserve a photo booth. They said they had received my inquiry and were following up. I was confused and told them I had already got that booked up. They said "how about I throw in a DJ and an MC?" and I told them again, no, I had all that reserved already, I was all set. The girl on the phone sounded confused and had nothing to say.
This did however make me nervous and I got a weird feeling, so I emailed America's Party Company a few times and tried to call to receive confirmation with no return email or phone call. Which made me more nervous.
On August 10th (my wedding is August 27) I received an email from "Casey" cancelling the reservation because "their credit card processor has not released the funds to them." Of course I emailed back frantically and they never responded. They said in the email that someone would contact me; they never did.
My sister tried to research it for me and after clicking on a few links at work her computer started acting strange and had to fend off an attack that her tech guy fixed, and then she worked to find me another (legit) photo booth.
She secured another photo booth and I am working with my bank to file a claim and dispute the charge now and get my money back. I called them on August 10th, after receiving the cancellation email.
Just today on August 22nd, I received ANOTHER cancellation email, this time from "Alex" and this time the reason was: "due to an unforeseen issue with our bank account...we can't pay our photo booth provider, neither can we issue you a refund because the bank has withheld all of our funds." They go on to tell me to contact my bank to dispute the charge which I already did 12 days ago. They ended with a repugnant "Our company has a good track record of successfully completing over 8% of jobs that are scheduled. However, we serve 40 USA markets and have over 6000 customers, so once in awhile something like this happens."
