I was at the pharmacy and working with a difficult patient that was not following treatment and the medicine did not clear viral load. I ask the patient why he was not taking medicine .Patient stated that the medicine was not what he wanted. I advise that the insurance company only approve one medication before they will approve the Harvoni. Patient got upset with me and hang up. I try to call patient back and he would not pick up.I called doctor office spike to nurse that stated that what I told the patient was not correct. I provided the nurse thenplan number to call and confirm.
The nurse called and was told the same procedure. Nurse called patient and advise he stated that he does not want to talk to me any more because I was not understanding him because he has accent. I advise the nurse I offer the language line he said no.Nurse stated that she will work with patient and switch patient to another pharmacy to get medication. My supervisor stated I could have handle the situation differently. I should have called the language line.
