I applied for some jobs on indeed. Shortly afterwards, this person contacted me with an immediate job offer for Cisco by someone claiming to be Amy Donovan. I also got an email from the legitimate Cisco with an advertisement to apply. I was skeptical about the email, I searched up the names of the people contacting me, they all came up as Cisco employees with LinkedIn profiles. I thought this meant they were real. I was asked to download the Signal app to interview with Jeannine Jacobson. I had the interview and was 'hired'. They sent me a check to buy equipment. After depositing, 'Jeannine' gave me multiple Zelle accounts to transfer money, claiming these people were vendors for the equipment. None of these transactions went through, and she told me to buy Apple gift cards and send her the card numbers. I was concerned, so I called my bank asking if the check was legitimate, they told me it was. At this point, I was under the impression that the check was real and I had this company's money. I did not want to be in trouble for holding their money, and even though I thought it was weird to buy the gift cards, I thought the bank would know if something was wrong, so I did what she asked. Afterwards, she told me to go back and buy more, and that's when I got concerned. I didn't contact her after that, and the gift card balances were zeroed out. I had my account put on hold while we waited for the check to clear, and I contacted Apple, they found the account used with the gift cards and put a hold on that as well. Right now, I'm waiting to see if the Apple order can be found and the fake money returned for when the check doesn't clear. This person is still contacting me, with different numbers and emails, and she said she will cancel the check if I don't do what she says.
