Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
countless persistent confusing, rambling, misspelled texts (primarily) later... she instilled suspicion, but not knowing for sure I continued attempting to get clarity, which I never received, and assured her my business was ready to service her if she would only be clear and straightforward with her contrary instructions.
she had another individual, she called her payroll manager, Mike Pond, send me a cashier's check drawn on Pacific Western Bank. mailed from Sun Valley, CA.
it arrived and because it looked authentic I took it to the bank to cash in order to pay Andrea's bills. she did not send me the multiple checks I instructed her to send, i.e., one in my name/business name for my service and the remaining funds in individual checks for her independent payments that she needed paid.
the bank cashed it. 5 days later the bank informed me that the cashier's check was stolen/forged. I saved the money until complete clearance by the bank's system as I was still suspicious. I immediately took all the monies back to the bank. at first the bank was going to financially penalize me, profiting off of my misfortune. I protested. our verbal dispute was fairly resolved by the bank.
