I responded in a separate email so he did not see what was previously requested. I asked for a jobname & job address to get a quote. He gave me an address (which Google mapped to a liquor store). I asked if that was his address or the job and he said the job and to verify voltage. He said the job (red flag #2).
I gave him an individual price by item diameter. He said to get a quote from his freight forwarder for shipping by his freight forwarder (VARS Freight) shipping to Cypress/Greece (red flag #3). He decreased the quantity (probably couldn't remember) to fourteen each. Since the quantity changed, I told him the price would increase. He agreed. I emailed his forwarder by the email provided ([email protected] red flag 3.5) who provided a quote of $4K. I contacted a freight forwarder I use to get a comparison quote. He declined saying they do not ship anything to Nigeria or Greece because of the scam potential (red flag #4). I told him I would send a quote.
He called me from a Napa, CA phone# asking where the quote was. I told him I was working on it. Phone# registered as VOIP number and he had an accent (red flag #5).
I sent an official quote with total, but declined shipping saying he should pay directly since he had a relationship already. He said it had to be paid at origin, so he would have to pass if I didn't include. He said he would take full responsibility, and I could add a fee. I emailed I would revise.
He called me 40 min later saying he was still waiting. I told him I was still working on it, and would send it after 2pm.
I emailed the revised stating we had no responsibility for damage or delay. He emailed back saying his partner would call me with the credit card info (red flag #6).
I emailed back that we were unable to take credit card payments for shipments whose final destination is out of the country. Payment would need to be by cashier's check or wire transfer. He passed on the order. No surprise.
