I received the same email with the same story, today. Something felt not right about it.

I was contacted via text message and email by [email protected] and [email protected] inquiring about buying a painting from my husband's website. This was going to be a surprise for her husband for their anniversary.  She wanted to pay for this by check so I gave my husband's name and address where to send the check and I inquired if she wanted the painting shipped. She informed me she was moving to Canada and her shipper was moving her truck and property to Canada and that shipper would pick up the painting. The check she was sending would be made out for more than the amount of the painting and once I received the check and it cleared by my bank she would notify her shipper and I would pay the shipper his fee. As soon as I indicated I wasn't participating in this arrangement and I felt this was a scam, the correspondence ended. I have the emails from her if there is somewhere I can forward them to you. The last email from her said her boss was only authorized to write one check and since I was uncomfortable with this arrangement, we would let it pass. I did not give any bank information but gave our address where to send the check before I realized the whole charade was a scam.

Thank you so much for reporting this here. I have just received the same email- and request via text as well. I have had these 'pay by check only' scam painting purchase requests come in before (yet from a different name and email address), so I was not fooled. Yet for interest sake I Googled to see if anyone else had reported this particular email acct. Again, thanks so much for reporting. I hate knowing that some artists probably get caught out by this.
