We are moving from Seattle to Chicago next month and found a sublet listing on Craigslist that directed us to the AnnSuites website. We emailed and spoke with the woman Sydney Fechtor and were approved for the short-term sublet. We were emailed the lease agreement, which was signed by the lessor Christine Williams on 4/5/2023. We sent back the signed agreement on 4/6/2023. The move-in date was set for 5/3/2023. The lease stated there will be a full refund if cancellation is more than 14 days prior to move-in. The security deposit was $1,550 and was sent via Zelle in 3 payments of $500 on April 7th, 8th, and 9th.

We ended up finding a long-term lease through a real estate agent and decided this was the better option for our move. We reached out to Sydney to inform her of our cancellation and she seemed compliant, saying the refund would be sent back as soon as possible. That was on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. After multiple emails and texts/calls over the next two days with no refund, we felt confident we had been scammed.

We want to ensure this does not happen again to any other scam victims and would like to see our money refunded. Thank you.
