ANT Reports & Reviews (1)

I first saw an advertisement for a Stargate replica on Facebook. I left Facebook and went to ANT's website on my own to check it out. On 1/20/2022 I placed an order with ANT for a, "2021 Film Memorial Collection?Stargate."

The first problem I encountered was that the website claimed the item would be shipped within 24 hours of placing the order. After 24 hours had elapsed, I had not received shipping notification. Given that numerous things had been delayed due to COVID, I chose to give them some extra time. After approximately 10 days had passed, I used their website to check on my order status. Their website claimed it could not locate the email address I had placed the order with.

Figuring it was a scam, I contacted my credit card company, informed them of what had happened, and requested replacement cards (enough time had passed where the charge had already been paid, so I was out the money).

Then, on 3/3/2022 I received an email stating that my item had shipped, and I should receive it within 10-15 days (which I did).

Upon receipt of the package, I opened it and found that I received 1 item of the 3 items I was supposed to receive based on the description on the website. The item I did receive (the Stargate itself) had some similarities in appearance to the item promised on the website, but had almost none of the functionality that was promised. The color of the Stargate was supposed to be black, but it was gold. The inner ring is supposed to spin, but it does not. The lights inside the mirror are supposed to swirl, but they just stay on. Those lights were supposed to be blue, but they are yellow. There are supposed to be red lights on the Chevrons, but there are none. Those lights are supposed to be controlled by a separate item called a Dial Home Device, but that was not included in the shipment I received (and it wouldn't have worked anyway since that part of the Stargate I received has no working electronic components whatsoever).

Figuring I would try to due my due diligence, I emailed ANT to point out that there were pieces missing, and that the Stargate I had received did not do what I was promised it would. The following is a direct quote from their response: "We sincerely apologize for this issue and are sorry to hear that the product can't meet your expectations. Because they are completely handmade, there will be a slight difference between our product page and the real product, pls understand.

Considering the appearance of the product is in good condition, usually, we don't offer any refund or replacement. Thanks for your understanding."

I responded to ANT by saying that this is known as, "Bait and switch," that it is illegal, and that I would file this report with the BBB, as well as warning my credit card company about their deceptive practices.
