Caller identified herself as from AOL Security. She stated she called to warn me that all my passwords were on the dark web, that they were trying to get into my AOL account, and that she could help me block their activity. She named my credit cards balances, bank balances, tax return info, making me believe they were legit and able to prevent any more damage. She passed the call on to a 'security expert' who attempted to gain access to my computer to make the necessary security changes that would protect me. I was to purchase an outdated firewall for a discounted $999. I unplugged my computer, called my bank and credit card companies, alerting them and making the necessary changes.

While researching ways to get my aol emails to load onto my ipad, I came across this website that offered 24/7 AOL Support. When I called the phone number, a man named Sam answered (later I realized that he didn't identify that they were with AOL Support) and he requested remote access to my home computer to help with my ipad issue. I realized that this seemed "fishy" and ended the call and the remote access, I am hopeful that he wasn't able to access any info from me but I do not want others to fall prey to this scam.
