It was to be a payroll job. I accepted. At first I thought the checks I was mailing we’re basically a test to see if I was competent enough for the job. The checks all had a instruction letter with them telling the recipient to cash the included check at their bank and then go buy gift cards and send the numbers on the cards to a specified phone number. When I got suspicious, I straight up asked what was going on and accused the guy of check fraud scam. I asked for proof that my job was legit. I only received an email back stated very dramatically how I do not need to worry about that and that they pay for their own shipping. Which doesn’t make sense as a response but I let it go for the time and did more research. Couldn’t find the company or him for that matter in any search engine. Nothing except story after story just like mine. I can’t believe I fell for it! I haven’t worked in 15 yrs and was pretty desperate for a job at that time. Soon as I made my mind up that he was lying I cut all ties and after a few days he stopped trying to get ahold of me.
