My iPad screen showed that a virus had invaded and gave a number to call for Apple tech support. I called and got a foreign speaking man who said he could help me. Supposedly he checked and told me my identity had been stolen and used for child porn, my phone and bank acct were compromised and my SS#. He said he could fix it by giving him my name, address and bank telephone number. He said he would connect me with my bank because the scammers were listening on my phone. Supposedly he connected me to my bank and I got another man with the same foreign dialect. I questioned him at length about where he was located, but I gave him no acct numbers or other info. He supposedly looked up my acct by name and said a payment of $9,000 was pending withdrawal. I told him it was not authorized and to block it. He said he couldn’t and I’d have to withdraw the amt and pay it and would get the money back later. That wasn’t my first clue that it was a scam, but it was my last. I hung up and called my bank and had them earmark it for activity, which they did. The guy has since texted and told me to call him immediately which I won’t do. He said his name was Roger William, 3475749419, and his employee ID was 90115-48. He supposedly contacted the Fed Trade Commission and gave me a case #039236410, which I’m sure is bogus.
