My phone number is ***. My apple id number is: *** The company misrepresenting itself as Apple Support uses this phone number: ?877-758-8809?. How can we recover our $***?
Here’s what we experienced: On Tuesday, 5-1-2018, my wife reported her Apple IPhone 6 damaged, and needed a replacement or repair, at the Manhattan Beach Apple Store. However, she was referred to Sprint, our service provider, for assistance. By phone, Sprint redirected us to a Sprint store in Huntington Park, where technicians on hand could address the problem. There a technician advised us to re-contact Apple for a replacement because a technical difficulty rendered the phone unrepairable.
Using my IPhone, I then Goggled Apple Support and go the following number: ?877-758-8809?. A person who identified himself as Manager Mike Thomson of “Apple Support” spoke to us. The id number he provided was #1005. The conversation lasted more than an hour, between ?2:30 – 4:00 p.m.?, in the in Huntington Park Sprint Store. We discussed replacing my wife’s IPhone 6. He said a fee of $*** was needed to replace the phone and an additional fee of $*** was needed for insurance.
The Manager said my credit card nor a bank account could not be charged from the system they were using. Instead, he directed us to purchase two Apple Cards to complete the transaction. I then raced across the street to a nearby 7-Eleven store to purchase two Apple ITunes cards and loaded $*** on each for a total of $***. The Apple cards were purchased at the 7-eleven store located a ?*** *** *** *** *** ***?. Details: Receipt #***. Store #***. Purchased for $***. Acct #***. Apple ITunes card #*** and Apple ITunes card # ***.
After purchasing the cards, I returned to pay. At that point, the manager, who remained on line, informed us that no IPhone 6 phones were available in stock. Instead he attempted to sell us an IPhone 7 at additional $***. A long discussion ensure. We declined and requested a refund. The manager agreed to the refund, saying it will be sent to us in a couple of days. He did not how it would be refunded, electronically or US Mail.
On Friday, 5-4-2018, I called the number to confirm the refund and method of delivery. An unknown representative of Apple Support, informed me that a refund was refused because the card had been previously used. On Saturday, 5-5-2018, I went to the Apple Store in Manhattan Beach for an explanation. Representatives and the manager there explained to me that we were victims of a scam and consumer fraud. He explained that the number called is not an Apple Support number. Further he directed me to report the incident to my local law enforcement agency LAPD and other consumer fraud agencies. On 5-8-2018, an Los Angeles Police Department incident report was filed. The officer on duty labeled this a theft and trickery case, Report #?***?. On 5-9-2018, an official online Apple customer service representative directed me to file report to [email protected]?.

The caller ID on our phone read "Apple" with an area code of "415." Which is somewhat local (SF Bay Area).
When I asked him how he got this phone number, he said that anytime we purchase an Apple product that that kind of information is provided. When I accused them of a scam and that I was going to report the number, he hung up.
They were very persistent with the robo-calls. Initially, it is a recording with the option of calling the number provided or pressing "1" to talk to a "support" person.
