My wife got a job offer from “APPTIO” 3 days ago. She was forwarded a check for $3988.00 yesterday. Before the check could clear, they asked for 4 iTunes cards each of $100.00, unfortunately my wife sent it as of yesterday. We went to our bank and placed our account on alert for fraud monitoring. This morning the scammer is back on “Google Hangout” asking for 5 “google play cards”, each from different stores to activate the software to be used as a data entry clerk job offer. We have told them we will make another purchase if our bank confirms our account has been credited appropriately. We searched online and realized this is a well known scam which we did not know. We have not alerted them that we know this is a scam. A live person answered to the number on the Fedex shipment and claimed not to know anything about it.

Please help me and others to avoid these scams

Offer of employment for $38 per hour interview t through Google Hangouts and wanted to send me a check to buy equipment with a $150 sign on bonus I also contacted the company HR department to legitimize the job itself
