They prey on LinkedIn and other job search sites always using a gmail. After the job description, they ask you to submit your resume. I have encountered wescol212@gmail and davfurry@gmail.( BothIP adresses are from Kansas) They use reputable businesses, send a check and ask you to deposit it. They then use another email to send an invoice for work supplies that you are to Zelle or wire to them. You are not protected and eat the loss when the check bounces. I caught the fraud the same day, and no one would help me.

The following email was sent after I "accepted" both position:

I am rest assured that you are eligible to take up the position. This virtual assistant position requires a printer and a licensed booking software. A pay check of $2950 will be sent to you which will cover:

1. Your first week pay of $400

2. The money for the printer and papers

3. The money for Licensed booking software.

The printer, papers and licensed booking software will be sent to your address The printer and licensed booking software are essential to perform the virtual assistance task successfully.Kindly send your full name as it should be on the check, valid mobile number and address of where the check should be sent to.

A recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn about a virtual assistant position working part time hours. I sent my resume to the email as instructed. The contact person in the email offered me the position but after sending my letter of acceptance the contact proceeded to ask for personal information such as my full name and address and offered to send a large amount of money In the form of a check.
