The Aqua Marketing and Communications ‘company’ out of St. Petersburg Florida, has been impersonated by people who are quite deceptive. When offered the internship, I received an email, that deemed realistic. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The company reached out to me that the ‘employee’ in charge of HR would contact me through the app WIRE. The ‘employee’ contacted and offered me the internship. They then gave it a few days before giving me a $2,000 check through email and had me cash it to give to ‘vendors’ for ‘materials’ I needed for the internship. They said I would get the materials delivered, which they obviously never did. The next day I was contacted that I needed more materials, so they emailed me another check, this time for $2,300. My bank had put the check on hold, which gave the ‘people’ the reason to have me pay $1725 out of pocket that would later be ‘reimbursed.’ They then asked me for $945 more, once I said no, it looked like a scam. They backed off then played the part very convincingly telling me that the materials would ship anyway. The next day, they pulled the checks out and did seize communications.
