I was looking for a Yorkie for my daughter’s 18 birthday and sent several message off of Craigslist ads. About a week later I received a text message from a lady that claimed she was in Jacksonville Florida getting cancer treatment as her husband was retired Navy and the hospital was better there. She also said her daughter and sister lived there. She sent me two photo of two yorkies ( a male and a female) We chose the female and we used PayPal to send her $450 thinking our investment would be protected. Once she received her money she supposedly put the Yorkie on a plane and Airport Pets Delivery Agents sent me the itinerary. Once the dog arrived in Charlotte I was told I need to send over $900 because the dog needed a business license in the state of NC and had to be insured. Once I received that email i called Airport Pet and spoke with a man who had a very very heavy accent. He said if I didn’t pay the dog would go to Animal control. I asked if I could drive to Charlotte to get the puppy but he said I would still have to pay the very large fee. Right then I knew I had been scammed. We were heartbroken. I cannot get PayPal to discuss this with me at all even though I sent many many messages. I just get an auto message saying that it’s friends and family and they don’t cover that. I have a claim in with my bank but have not heard back yet. We live in Virginia Beach VA. I also sent them a photo of my drivers license (front and back) and am worried about that.
