Got a Arlo Wired Doorbell from Amazon on 3-32022. Began Installation on 3-5-2022. Immediately following creating my Arlo account get my doorbell hooked up , I received a call from 888-489-6816. The person identified himself a Sam from Arlo tech support and offered to assist me with completing the installation.. Then he said I needed to pay $99.99 for an Activation Fee. The fee included continuing support and product protection. I told Sam that my research did not say anything about an Activation Fee. He argued the point and said ZI must activate my ARLO doorbell or it wouldn't work. I told him I didn't trust what he was saying. He sai I could check it out and call him back at the phone number 888-489-6816. It was a scam, there is no Activation Fee, and my Doorbell camera works fine. Surprising the immediately after creating my ARLO account I got the call. My Arlo Account was created at the actual Arlo URL. It seems that ARLO may have been hacked and it letting scammers get info when an account is created.
