Very artful scammers. They approached me with a job offer involving SEO (search engine optimization). Ostensibly, I was to work on a system that offered up products, with descriptions and prices. I was to go through three rounds of 35 products every day, and get a salary of 1600 a week. Now, I was required to provide $50 to seed my account. As the products were shown, I was to buy them, rate them a five-star, and sell them. The apparent purpose of the operation is to increase the rating of products so as to enhance their search results (as phony as that is). As I bought each product, the balance of my account would come down by the amount of the product's price, and when I sold them, it would be restored, but I would also earn a 1% bonus based on the price. All good. But here's the catch. The only way I would get my money and my salary is if I completed all three 35-item rounds. I had to check in with their customer service to get my account released so that I could withdraw it. Now, here's the next catch, the big one. If the price of a product was more than my balance, that would trigger a "bonus mission." In order to advance, I would have to clear the negative balance. So, I would have to pay them. But my trainer told me that bonus missions were the key to heaven because instead of a 1% bonus, I would get a 4% bonus. He is a very skilled con man, because he really earned my trust. Anyway. By my estimate, the software is gaming software. All of the people working for Artefact know the rules very well and always insist that making any deviations is out of their control, and, anyway, the system is entirely random. But here's how it works. The products are broken into groups based on price range. Within those groups or categories, the system selects products to show on a random basis - so it actually seems random. Most of the time, the products are under your balance, but when you get a bonus mission, and you pay the negative balance, your account balance goes up, and so does the price of the next product that exceeds your balance and generates the next negative balance that you have to clear to keep moving on. If you don't move on, then you don't get any of your money back. On my first day, they ran me through the process using very small values and let me withdraw my money when all three rounds were done. Great con artist move, as it built my confidence. But on the second day ... they pinned me to the wall. By the third round I was being told I had to cover a $600 negative balance against a balance where I had already put in over $600. Then, I quit. And now I am telling you. PLEASE STOP THESE PEOPLE. This was like a terrorist experience. Everything is a smooth fraud. It's not a salary if I have to pay money to get it. It's not a bonus if I am the one providing the money. And its not a job if the company blackmails you in order to get it. BTW, NONE of the upfront communications said anything about these rules.
