My problem is that I was completing installation of a new printer by contacting the HP website as instructed. The HP rep, who had access to my computer, said he could not complete the installation because of trojans & viruses such as Rundell 32. He transferred me to the ASAP rep, who phoned me back. That rep finished the installation of my printer and apparently repaired many things on my computer ( I already have a lifetime virus support from VIPRE. In the meantime of course they had full access to my computer and have my VISA number etc.
I called HP this morning and they said they would never transfer me to a third party like that. They also have no record of my printer being registered.
I called the 1-888-699-0061 number that the ASAP tech had placed on my computer - saying that I never had to contact any other tech support in the future.
They sent me all kinds of 'legitimate legal documents' - all of which they filled in themselves, very quickly
I just need to know if this is a scam.
It cost me money, but I don't know if I have LOST money or if this is a legitimate service. Having my computer being able to be serviced on line is a positive for me.
I'm just left very concerned that HP denies they received my initial contact to install the printer and also say they would not refer me in this way
