We replied to a Craigslist ad for a shipping container. We agreed to send half payment of $2100 and then they would ship the container and be paid the balance of $2100. After they received our $2100 they wanted the balance paid before they shipped the container. The way things were going we were worried it might be a scam so we refused to pay the balance before they shipped it. They told us we needed to trust them but that they would refund the $2100 if we wanted them to. We told them we did and that was the last we heard from them. They quit answering our calls.

Advertised on Facebook marketplace as broker for Ascent Containers for shipping container. Researched through Port of Miami, who said appears to be a legit business. Was sent documents from the company for purchase with letterhead and what looks to be a legit business. Now no contact and phone is no longer in service. Used Zelle for transfer.
