Less than 2 hours later I said we would go ahead with the purchase. They directed me to pay all of the money up front through a "cash app" which I was to download. We did download the app but had a lot of trouble with it working. The "breeder" wouldn't give me his phone number to speak on the phone though I asked him to call me. He did text me though, with additional information about the procedure for sending the money. He was getting less friendly. Finally he said I should just purchase an American Express Gift Card for $850.00 which was due. I said I would have to do it the next day as it was already about 9:30pm.
Then my husband and I, and our daughter started questioning all this and did an Internet search about these types of scams. This person appears to be doing all of the things the scam sites said a scam would do. I canceled the purchase in the morning by text message. He sent a short note saying this had never happened before and that his customers were always happy. But he said "OK." The picture of the dog below is from the man's website and is the dog I was trying to purchase, Molly.
