Our family searched online to find a Basset Hound puppy. The scammer reached out via email then by telephone number asking interview like questions about who the dog was for, what our environment was like to see if it was dog friendly. We paid $800 for the dog on Cashapp to the owner who name was supposedly Ashley Lure. The cashapp was to her “daughter”. Then they scammer set us up with another scammer to ship the dog across states to be home delivered. The “delivery” company then reach out via email to state the dog had to be shipped in a thermal regulated crate due to the age of the puppy and stated we needed to pay a rental fee that would be given back once the puppy arrived. Then transportation company reached out via email and then through messages. The company sent us a flight ticket, name of puppy, flight information and etc. The rental was $860 for the crate. The first payment was made via Venmo. The flight company insisted we pay through friends and family. I however put a purchase protection on the payment. The traveling agency then stated the payment was on hold because of the purchase protection plan and we would have to send an additional $860 for the dog to be able to make its flight. We sent the second payment of $860 on cashapp so the dog could be boarded. The transportation agency then stated since I delayed the flight that the $860 crates we no longer available only the $1070 dollar crates where available. Since we delayed the flight, we would have to pay $135 for a new plane ticket. $50 home delivery fee and a $65 dollar accommodation fee for the dog. At that point, we had already sent $2520 dollars and they were asking for $460 more so we asked for a refund from the travel agency and seller of the dog. They have yet to refund the money and stated they would not due to our delay. Upon us further investigating, we discovered it was in fact a scammer.
