They came back twice, once in a different car and once in a taxi cab.
The first time, we didn't answer the door and they left before the police got here. The officer who arrived was aware of the specific group, identified the individuals we had on our home camera and informed us they were national scam artists who had been barred from both Texas and Wymoing.
The police were here for the second time, and they were entirely unaware of the situation or able to follow-up with the officer from earlier in the morning. The cops did tell them to stay away from the property, so we can at least charge them with trespassing if they just continue to harass us. The $1000 would be a long, draw-out process in civil court and we're cutting our losses as we failed to get a contract or other information upfront.
The driveway barely has a layer over asphalt over it, they didn't compact it and it won't be as durable or dense as a result. Regardless, the failure to put down the appropriate weight of asphalt will result in 1-3 months before it starts breaking apart.
