I got a text message with another phone number. They said they were partnering with Ebay to provide a promotion. They knew how much I paid for my Direct TV. I had to pay for the promotional price for six month with Ebay cards in order to get the promotion for two years.

I am 81 yrs old. I got a call on 8.3.21 from AT & T. They told me I could save half off my AT & T bill if I bought them eBay gift cards. I went to Home Depot. The clerk explained they were non-refundable. I called back and gave them the security card numbers. They called back and said the card numbers didn't match and I should go to Walgreens or CVS and buy more cards. They said they would send me a check for $700 to cover my expenses. I went to Walgreens and bougth more cards. I gave them the security numbers from the back of the cards. They called back and said the cards didn't work, and that I would have to send another $475, but they would send me $1400. I went to CVS and the clerk told me the cards were non-refundable. I bought the cards and gave them the numbers. They called back and said the cards didn't work, and I would need to buy more. I said I've already bought $1425 and would not buy them anymore. He became irritated and said AT & T was cutting off my service and I would have no television.

I'm 72 years old. I received 6 calls from 866-294-3464. A man, Steven Collins, from California, from AT&T, said AT&T had a lot of its' accounts hacked, and they wanted to transfer $300 into my checking account, and they wanted to give me $300 as a courtesy for my inconvenience. He told me to go to my computer, and go to Team Viewer. He gave me a code number to access it, 228348. I gave him my social security number, checking account access, routing number and bank accounts. I asked why he didn't send me a check, and he said because they have thousands and this was easier.
The next morning, I went to the bank and closed my account, reported Social Security and put an alert on my credit report.

Contacted by phone, used actual AT & T phone # on called ID. First person says they have an offer from At&T DirectV and Ebay. They know my phone number and address without me giving them any information. They say if I go to 7-eleven and purchase a 300.00 Ebay gift card, there is a promo going and I can reduce my At&t Directv bill to 59.99 per month. I need to pay 6 months in advance and will not be billed until the sixth month again. The 59.99 will be my bill for the next 24 months and I will receive the complete package including all premium channels. They will also send me a 100.00 Visa Gift Card. They than transfer me to a supervisor to confirm the promo. He tells me after I purchase the Ebay gift card to call 888-980-8542 ext 1, scratch off the security # on the back of the gift card, give the number to the customer service rep along with Promo Code #DTA4455. The only reason I listened to this scam was because I had the real AT & T toll free #800-288-2020 programed in my cell phone and it did come up the same number. I later called back the 800 number and At& t assured my this is a scam and they have no promo like this going. Someone proceeded to call me back later in the evening asking if I had purchased my Ebay gift card yet and Identified themselves as At& t. I told them I called AT & T and they said this was a scam and told them not to call me again.

I received a call today at 1:00 PM today - it was a recording to push 1 to talk with someone. I pushed 1 and was told to open up my computer and they would tell me what to do to fix it; I did not open my computer. I knew it was scam. They asked for my personal information but I did
not give them any information. I did call AT & T and the 800-288-2020 was their legitimate number. I was informed that the perpetrators
(who had a foreign accent) were spoofing the number.
