So I replied with the personal info requested and got this response: "This is to Congratulate you on the new job. This is a legitimate Personal Assistant Job am offering you and I hope to have your 100%
loyalty and Cooperation. Your quick response to E-mails and effectiveness is required. you will be getting started this week as your first week salary and funds to carry out the first task will be delivered to you this week, A payment inform of Company Certified Check has been mail out to you from one of my client and I have some list of task to email to you, once you received the funds you will be getting paid from it and make use of the rest funds to make arrangements by buying some gift items for kids at any nearest store around you, and mail them to a particular Orphanage home information that will be provided as soon as you receive the funds, this is the first task you are to carry out as my Personal Assistant and I do that every middle of the month.
The package containing the Company Certified Check has been mailed out to you and package will be delivered to your address next week via ***** , and it will come along with your first Pay.. I will get back to you with the tracking number once I have it, but you will receive the package this week.
I want you to Re-confirm the Name and Address and your phone # to be sure I have the right information and in order to avoid any loss or misplacement of the package ..Email back ASAP to confirm you received this notification & to confirm you are ready for this task." After receiving this email, I did NOT reply as I thought it was sketchy. Then today I received a text message and email from this "***** ****" person letting me know that a check was on the way, I responded by saying I didn't feel comfortable depositing/cashing the check until I could have a zoom/video call with him to gather more info, as I never had an interview of any kind. He told me "no we can't worry" so I said "I won't do anything until we've video chatted. I didn't even get an official interview and I don't feel comfortable continuing without a face to face" and after sending him that text I stopped receiving any/all communication from him.
The address I entered as the "scammers address" is what was on the check I received and the image attached is of the ***** envelope that the check came in.
Hopefully this is enough info to track down this/these scammer(s) and put a stop to this.
