I received a phone call from 661-314-6744. It was someone claiming they were with AT&T DirectTV service and asked if I was interested in their special promotion because I was such an outstanding customer. The promotion would lower my bill from $135.00 a month to $82.00 a month. The kicker was I had to go buy an EBAY gift card from the store with $166.00 on it. I qould then have to call 888-207-1330 and give them a promo code and pay with the EBAY gift cards. This seemed odd to me so I did some research and found out this was a scam. Be careful out there. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

I received a call from a person who said he was calling from AT&T DirectTV with a great offer for monthly rates. Since my rates had recently sky rocketed by an additional $45/month I was looking for some relief. He gave me a toll-free number that I called and it had a very professionally done automated answering greeting and menu. They had me buy a $150 Ebay Gift Card for the first 3 months of DirectTV and Internet Service Bundle which they said would $50/month for 2 years.

My wife got home and when I told her about it, she told me that she had heard about gift cards being used by scammers. Sure enough when I called back my calls were blocked by the number I had used to do the transaction.
