Type of a scam Counterfeit Product
Due to the red flags above and the fact that they were selling replica Majestic jerseys that usually run about $120 for $30.99 and “authentic” (meaning exactly what the players wear on field) jerseys that usually go for $250 plus for $32.99 I chose not to take any chances. My guess is that these jerseys are coming from China. If not China it is still certainly overseas.
While writing this I did a little more research. The official jerseys are manufactured in Pennsylvania. According to cardboardconnection.com the first way to identify a knock of is by “ridiculously low prices”. Their main purpose is to warn collectors they aren’t receiving the official product and the quality will not be as good as the original. They compare it to buying a fake Gucci bag. They go on to say that if you are willing to accept a lower quality item that appears the same you shouldn’t worry about it. While I understand their point I cannot suggest or condone someone purchasing a counterfeit item that is protected by a Trade Mark or Patent. This is especially true when the purchase sends American dollars overseas and takes the money away from American companies that manufacture in the USA which in turn takes money from their workforce.
