I was contacted by a "Julia Robin" on 8/15/2022 from the email "[email protected]" they said they were from Sony Pictures and wanted to consider my book to be made a film. I sent an email telling them to call me and a man named "Pil Ivey" did so. He claimed he was speaking on behalf of Mrs. Robin and asked if I had a trailer advertising my book. This way they could use it in a pitch meeting. When I said no they offered to make one for me at the cost of $2,000. I said I need some time to talk to someone about this. I took a few days consulting family and friends and decided to take the chance. I took out a loan and paid the money. After some time I received an email with a trailer for my book. I liked it but thought it wasn't worth $2,000 I placed it on my YouTube page. A week goes by and I get a call from "Phil" saying my book was selected by a representative from Netflix who was present at the meeting. After which I kept getting phone calls, emails, and text messages. (all of which I have saved) I then received an email with a "Retainer Agreement" from "Phil/ Netflix" giving production rights to them and and additional $2,000 was asked of me to pay for a theatrical trailer. However when I spoke to "Phil" he said the money was a way to make sure I did not back out of the project. I took a week to think it over and given all that I had seen so far I thought to take the chance and maxed out my credit card to pay. Both times I paid were to a "Authors Outlet LLC" of which I cannot find much information. I have saved the pay stubs. Then "Phil" went silent for a few weeks. I texted, called, emailed and received nothing. So I emailed "Julia" as a way to reach out and got a phone call from another man named "Mark Brando" phone # 1 805-419-9327. He claims to be the head of production on my books adaptation and "Phil" was transferred to the UK for work. My most recent call with "Mark" was on 12/8/2022 I asked how far along the production was and he said 40% and they were waiting for cameras to come from Japan. He then asked if I had a website for my book so they can use that as a base to monitor interest. When I said no he told me they can hire someone for an additional $2,000 to make one for me. I told them I can't afford it, but would see what I can do. I began to dig more and things just don't seem to add up. I would like to get the ScamPulse.com help in this matter to find out if all this is real or I have been scammed. If I have been scammed I wish to turn in everything in order to press charges. I am attaching the retainer agreement they sent me and will gather everything else up for you.
